A new service is now in operation for CWU members to seek free legal advice. This service is operated by the Union’s panel of Solicitors, Simpson Millar via a national call centre. Union members can access this service by dialling a national advice line number at which point you will be required to provide your membership number and Branch details.
The call centre will be staffed by trained personnel and free legal advice can be given directly to the member. If the member requires a personnel interview with a solicitor then details will be provided of firms who are participating in this scheme and the member will then contact them and make the necessary arrangements accordingly.
Members will need to be aware that if they engage a solicitor to act on their behalf they do so on a private client basis and the CWU will not be responsible for any costs incurred.
THE SERVICE IS AVAILABLE ON MONDAY TO FRIDAY 08.00-20.00. OUTSIDE THESE HOURS AN ANSWER PHONE SERVICE WILL BE AVAILABLE AND CALLS WILL BE RETURNED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

The new Road Assist Scheme covers members and their immediate family who are involved in road accidents whilst off duty.
MEMBERS WISHING TO USE THIS SERVICE CAN DO SO BY TELEPHONING THE NATIONAL FREE PHONE NUMBER 0800 542 9927 QUOTING CWU ROAD ASSIST. CWU Membership number and Branch details will also be required and any member wishing to use the service should ensure they have the necessary details available on request.
